Profile Information

What does 'sustainability' mean to you?
Sustainability means to me “meeting my basic needs (versus consumerism) of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their basic needs."

http://www.footprintnetwork.org/en/index.php/GFN/
"The Ecological Footprint is a great communication tool. It can help explain a complex challenge for the planet to any audience. It can then empower people because it doesn't say you must do this. It says: here's the challenge that we all share on the planet. You can make your choice. That's very powerful for us."

Terry A'Hearn, Director of Sustainable Development, EPA Victoria, Australia
What do you do to try and live green and what would you like to learn more about?
We garden and most enjoy building up the soil with organic material.

Water WATER (H2O) conservation is very important to our home conservation efforts.

I would like to adjust our home environment to improve upon the passive solar energy now being underutilized.
What concerns you most about the issues facing the environment, whether locally or globally?
Obesity and overweight are epidemic. Since 1990 the number of adults who are obese has doubled both in New Mexico and nationwide. If measures are not taken in a variety of settings to stop this trend, obesity rates and their associated health, environment and financial costs in New Mexico will continue to escalate.
