Why Socially Responsible Investing

WHY SOCIALLY RESPONSIBLE INVESTING?Today, Americans are perhaps more pessimistic then ever regarding their finances. With the constant news of scandal and crime that flows out of Wall Street and Capitol Hill many feel lost and helpless when it comes to making financial investment decisions. In this age of mistrust and skepticism regarding almost every aspect of big business and government it is important to know there are still avenues of empowerment and hope to be taken advantage of. One of…See More

What is Socially Responsible Investing anyhow?

While the audience for Socially Responsible Investing ( SRI ) is growing, few people I have spoken to have a clear, comprehensive view of exactly what it is! Some call it ESG investing (environmental, and social governance issues) others call it Green or Sustainable. What does 'sustainability' mean to you?
As a finacial advisor specializing in Socially Responsible/Green Investing sustainability means educating people about the financial foundation that supports this movement. Without a financial foundation there is no Green movement and those who profess to be Green need to know they have the opportunity to invest with their values while still being competetive with Wall Street.
What do you do to try and live green and what would you like to learn more about?
My profession is about encouraging and empowering people to use their investment money to change the world. I am continually learning about the concerns, goals and fears of my clients regarding the investment world.
What concerns you most about the issues facing the environment, whether locally or globally?
The pervasive ignorance the Green community has about Socially Responsible Investing. The world cannot be tranformed into the Green Ideal without a financial foundation of enormous scale!
