Santuario de Chimayo National Historic Landmark Threatened

I thank Tom Sharpe for his December 22 SF New Mexican article, and David Snow, Historian, for bringing this important issue to light on January 15 and initiating public and professional involvement in it.  As I look at the drawings of the proposed development, I am appalled that any plans such as this…

CHIMAYO: PROPOSED DEVELOPMENT AND FURTHER COMMERCIALIZATION OF SPANISH CULTURE

This NMAC (NM Archaeological Council) update from a SF County advisory committee member Jerry Rogers  indicates that development of Church lands in Chimayo is in the works, although a master plan for it has not yet been heard by the Santa Fe County Commission. I am not clear what or if options exist to block this development, but I will be posting information as I receive it. I can say that strong opposition among some NMAC members has been penned.  In the mean time, I…

The Santuario de Chimayo-- Endangered

Their development plan calls for a sprawling, 2-story complex called "Jardín de Los Niños Spiritual Retreat"  that will be built…

Natural gas bubble?

Surging prices for oil and natural gas shales, in at least one case rising tenfold in five weeks, are raising concerns of a bubble as valuations of drilling acreage approach the peak that was set before the collapse of Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc.

Chinese, French and Japanese energy explorers committed more than $8 billion in the past two weeks to shale-rock…
