Passing of an courageous environmentalist
I learned with sadness today of Wangari Mathaai's passing. She started a green movement in Kenya, planting trees and advocating for education for girls and women. In 2004, she earned a Nobel Peace Prize for her efforts. She is proof of the distance one person, with the right voice and committment, can make.

Mulroy defends Nevada water grab
Pat Mulroy, water manager for Las Vegas, Nev. defends the Southern Nevada Water Authority (aka Las Vegas) move to obtain water rights to "excess", unclaimed underground water in surrounding counties. She points out the city can't just rely on the Colorado River to survive and thrive.
