Thank you, Mayor Coss for suggesting that "a lot fewer cars on Cerrillos Road" is part of your vision for a sustainable/green Santa Fe. Cerrillos Road pretty much sums up how inefficient, obsolete and lethally polluting our current transportation infrastructure is.

As much as I like to use a bicycle for transportation around town, Santa Fe is a scary place to ride a bike. We need safer bicycle routes and more of them. Bicycles should not have to compete with speeding SUVs for road space, it's a dangerous situation and we need to do better.

Well said Mayor Coss. Now it occurred to me the other day watching you and all the dignitaries at the rail yard ground breaking ceremony, that this long awaited commuter train will likely be of no use to me after all, if dogs will not be allowed. Why, I did not adopt my cute Isabella-girl from the shelter, for her to hang out in the yard while I go to exciting places! Can't we make this train useful and available to the many pet owners of our community that might like to take their pets along on their trips? If hygiene is a main concern, maybe an area of the train could be reserved for pets and their owners, like we used to have smoker compartments and such. Europe allows pets on public transportation and I do not see why we should not! What do you think, Mayor Coss?
